About

I am Carl Heitmann

I was born in Worcestershire and educated in art and design at Bournville College of Art. Working as an illustrator I created drawings for book covers, product packaging, sportscar manuals as well as developing architectural visualisations.

CELEBRATING

Mini achievements

In the 1990’s I was commissioned to create a number of drawings for motor enthusiasts and classic car owners. I became a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists exhibiting my work at the Coventry Motor Museum and the British Motor Museum.

I particularly loved drawing the original Mini Cooper, which was famously named after motorsport entrepreneur – John Cooper. John signed a number of limited editions which went on to be sold worldwide.

DRAWN TO NATURE

Exploring Snowdonia

For more than fifteen years I lived in a small town in the stunning Snowdonia National Park. I was fortunate enough to spend time wandering along ancient tracks steeped in mystery, climbing mountain peaks, exploring the many beautiful beaches and ambling through the ever-changing hues of rolling hills and forests. It was these amazing views that provided the inspiration for many of my paintings and drawings, and the motivation to open my first gallery.

IT’S IN THE DETAIL

Life in pen and ink

As an artist, my love of pen and ink was reignited with the creation of a sequence of fine monochrome drawings beginning with the exciting landscapes in and around North Wales. This progressed to include interesting historic buildings and wildlife in my portfolio.

From my home in Cheshire, I now take commissions for a variety of works, as well as expanding my portfolio all in pen and ink.
