Dinorwic Slate Quarry

I have spent many hours walking and exploring the old slate quarry works at Dinorwic high above Llyn Peris and Dolbadarn Castle. A fascinating place, it must have been a riot of activity in its day as the second largest slate quarry in the world before closing in 1969. Mining has had an immense impact on the surrounding landscape, I find it fascinating the way that nature reclaimed the scarred hillsides once the last miners went home.
